This chapter takes you from the installer to a successful sign-in. Otterflow officially supports Windows, and the same basic flow applies on macOS.

System requirements

Word and LaTeX integrations have their own prerequisites, such as compatible software or local components. You can set those up when you need them; first, install and start Otterflow itself.

Download and install

  1. Download the installer from otterflow.ai.
  2. Run it and follow the installation wizard.
  3. Start Otterflow from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.
On macOS, drag the application to the Applications folder, then open it from Launchpad.

Register and sign in

On first launch, Otterflow guides you through signing in. Create an account on the sign-in screen if you do not already have one. Signing in enables preference synchronization and lets you view billing information and quota.

About quota

AI collaboration consumes quota. Check the remaining amount and usage trend in Settings → Account & billing; the chat interface can also show the remaining percentage. For details, see Account and billing.

Tips

  • Preferences begin syncing after the first sign-in and follow your account to another device.
  • If sign-in repeatedly fails, check your connection and credentials.
  • Advanced integrations do not block installation of the main app.
