# Word integration

> Prepare, install, activate, and use the FlowaveWord Word integration.

Otterflow can integrate with Microsoft Word through the **FlowaveWord** add-in. This lets you work with AI while keeping Word as the document editor.

## What it is

The integration connects Otterflow's AI workflow to Word documents. Use it when you want to write, revise, or inspect content in Word while retaining the familiar Word editing experience.

## Before you enable it

Use Word 2022 or later, or Microsoft 365. Otterflow checks compatibility before enabling the capability. Keep Word updated if the capability page recommends an upgrade.

## Install and activate

1. Open **Settings → Capability management**.
2. Enable the Word capability and wait for the environment check and installation.
3. Open Word after activation.
4. Find **FlowaveWord** in the **Flowave** group on Word's **Home** tab.

## Use it in Word

Open a document, select text when relevant, and use the integration to bring the selection or document context into your Otterflow workflow. AI can help draft, expand, revise, summarize, or align wording while you keep control of the document.

### What AI can do

Ask AI to improve academic language, rework a section, create an outline, explain a passage, or apply an agreed writing direction. Review the resulting text before accepting it into the document.

### Online and offline modes

The integration can use the normal connected workflow when services are available. Some local behavior can remain useful offline, but capabilities that depend on AI or synchronization require their relevant services to be reachable.

## Capability status

The Capability management page reports the state of installation and compatibility. Read the state label first; it tells you whether an update, a retry, or another action is needed.

## Tips

* Update Office before retrying a compatibility warning.
* If the add-in is not visible after installation, reopen Word and check Capability management again.
* Use the advanced troubleshooting path only when normal activation guidance does not resolve the issue.
