# Projects and workspaces

> Create, open, switch, remove, and relocate research workspaces.

Otterflow organizes research by **workspace**. A workspace corresponds to a folder on your computer, containing the manuscripts, sources, figures, and material that AI can help you work with.

## Create or open a workspace

On the initial empty page, choose **New project** to create a new workspace, or **Open folder** to attach an existing directory. Use a separate workspace for each research topic when you want files and AI context to stay organized.

## Recent workspaces

The workspace home lists recent locations, so you can return to ongoing work quickly. It is a list of references to folders, not another copy of your files.

## Switch workspaces

Click the workspace name or folder control in the global bar to return to **My workspaces**. Select another workspace there to open it.

## Remove or relocate a workspace

Removing a workspace from the recent list does **not** delete its files from disk. If a folder was moved or renamed outside Otterflow, use the relocation flow to point the entry to its new location.

## Tips

* Keep one coherent topic or project in a workspace.
* Open an existing folder when you already have a structured set of files.
* Use the recent list for convenience, but remember the actual data stays in the selected folder.
